The Writers Who Will Thrive in the Age of AI
Why AI won’t replace the writer’s coming of age
A month ago, I sounded my own personal alarm bells on the AI revolution and where we fit as writers. Since then, I’ve had a number of conversations with industry leaders and creative thinkers, and reflected deeply on my own inner guidance. Today I come to you with my first video newsletter to lay out the clear stakes as we decide how best to weather this storm, and protect the earning power of our imaginations in a changing economy
Let’s be clear, my goal is not to bash AI. Like many, I use AI tools to streamline processes. But I don’t let it replace my imagination. Some writers - hungry for a shortcut - are giving in and outsourcing ideation to ChatGPT, not just lower level tasks. The writers I work with understand that the new “talent gap” will be between those writers who continue to rely on their own thoughts and ideas and those who succumb to AI when creative adversity strikes.
In this video, I break down how overcoming those internal road blocks is the KEY to making game-changing culture-evolving narrative art, and how those who choose to invest in thinking narratively IRL will stand out in a future economy where most of the creative choices have been flattened by the large language model.
In this video we discuss: |
How to win in the coming AI-infested media landscape
The long term effects of outsourcing ideation
Why choosing the path of most resistance breeds creative resilience
